According to franchiseeconomy.com, in 2019, franchise systems supported 8.4 million direct jobs, and created $787.5 billion of economic output for the US economy, resulting in 3% of the total Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
On the state level, franchisors contribute greatly to local communities. For example, in Florida, there are over 47,100 franchise establishments supporting 514,000 jobs. This generates $44.8B billion in output and contributes $27.1 billion of the GDP.
