Don’t Mess with Texas – This State Means Business in Franchising

It is common knowledge in the franchise industry that the franchise business model is historically the most successful form of business ownership, but what franchisors might not be aware of is how much they contribute to the national economy, employment and job market, and the national GDP.

According to franchiseeconomy.com, in 2019, franchise systems supported 8.4 million direct jobs, and created $787.5 billion of economic output for the US economy, resulting in 3% of the total Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

On the state level, franchisors contribute greatly to local communities. For example, in Texas, there are over 62,100 franchise establishments supporting 635,500 jobs. This generates $53.1 billion in output and contributes $31.6 billion of the GDP.
